Sunday, April 17, 2011: Everett's first full day outside the womb

Grammmie Mac took such wonderful care of Selwyn while I was in the hospital!  One of the highlights of our stay was when big brother, Selwyn came to visit for the first time.  The initial meeting was caught on video.  Selwyn got right down next to his little brother and kept whispering, "Hi, baby Everett" and snuggling him.  Grammie Mac and I cried and cried.  It was beyond adorable.  Above is our first photo as a family of four.
The highlight of the visit for Selwyn, on the other hand, was the free ice cream!  Selwyn is a huge fan of ice cream, so this was extremely cool.

Above, Selwyn held Everett for the first time with Grammie Mac's help.  Below, Selwyn gave Everett a good snuggle.

                                                             Holding Everett with Daddy.

Good Lord, my oldest son is adorable! Second place to the ice cream were the doctor's gloves.  Selwyn is a huge fan of gloves in general, so this was BIG.
Above, Daddy fed Everett some formula with a pipette.  We had to get Everett's blood sugar up so he could pass his tests.  His sugar was a low of 37 (supposed to be 45 or higher at first), but they are changing the guidelines soon, so he would have been low normal on the new scale--not as big of a deal as Selwyn's sugars when he needed an IV to stabilize.  Below, Everett rested a lot in his bassinett with the cute name tag that one of the CNAs made for him.
