December 4, 2011: A quick visit to Aunt Abbie's house to check out her tree

This year was Aunt Abbie's and Sebastian's first Christmas in their new home.  Above, they had a nice tree.  Below are their stockings hung on the mantle.
Below, Aunt Abbie is always up for an art project, especially one involving markers or some other thing to stain one's clothing. ;)  She and Selwyn made a race car track.  Everett hung out, watched, and rolled under the couch.

December 4, 2011: Elizabeth Newcomb's 3rd Birthday Party at Camp Ketcha

What kid doesn't want to ride a pony?  Selwyn had SO MUCH FUN at Elizabeth Newcomb's 3rd Birthday Party at Camp Ketcha.  He rode a pony, had snacks, ate a cupcake and checked out barnyard animals.  Not a shabby way to spend a Sunday afternoon!  Thanks, Elizabeth!
Above, checking out the bunnies.  Below, looking at one of the ponies.  It might have been the one he ended up riding.

Aboe, Everett was there, too.  Below, that was right before Selwyn took a digger coming into the barn.  Oops.

Being sized up for a helmet.  Look how cute he is below in his safety gear!

Above, waiting patiently in line to walk over to the corral.  Below, it was finally Selwyn's turn after a long wait.  There was only one pony and one horse.  He wanted to ride the pony.

                                                                        LOVING IT!

Everett happily chewed on Mom's zipper pull in the Ergo.

Dad checked out some more animals with the boys before we had a cupcake and headed home.

Sunday, December 4, 2011: Picking out Everett's First Christmas Tree

We went to Skillins in Falmouth for our tree again this year.  They have the Frasier firs, which are somewhat hard to find. The prices are steep, but you get a nice tree, free cookies and coffee and it supports a local business.

Selwyn was pretty excited about the cookies, of course.  Look at these darling little boys!

Above, Selwyn had to wander around after the cat for awhile.  Below, Selwyn informed Dad that the tree was on top of the car.  Yep.

December 3, 2011: A very strange-looking Santa at Walgreens

The boots didn't work.  The beard didn't work.  The lack of "ho ho ho" didn't work.  Oh, well.  Selwyn still marched up to "Santa" and told him the one and only thing he wanted for Christmas--cookies.  Cookies, cookies, cookies.  This Santa was so bad that we had a conversation in the car on the way home about how, because Santa can't be everywhere at once, he sends his elves all over the world to dress up like him.  Selwyn seemed satisfied with that story, and I felt like a genius for coming up with it on a whim.
Look how THRILLED Santa was! I didn't let him touch Everett...

December 3, 2012: Seashore Trolley Museum Holiday Ride

The Seashore Trolley Museum in Arundel has a special holiday ride on one of its historic trolleys.  They decorate a beautiful trolley car in Christmas dressing, and you take this neat little ride along some old tracks.  At the half way point (a loop), they stop the trolley, and the strange little man that has worked there forever (see below for a picture) reads a little made-up Christmas story that is somewhat amusing for the adults.  Selwyn and Everett were the only kids on the ride, and they did a wonderful job with the sites and scenery (until Selwyn hollered, "Why aren't we GOING?" when the story was being read--oh, well--to his credit, it WAS a bit long).

Before we boarded the trolley we checked out the museum part of the building (and kept re-directing Selwyn away from the hot cocoa and snacks that were for after the ride).

Above, Selwyn played with the train.  Below, Everett looked fat. :)

Everett posed nicely for Mama on one of the old trolley benches.  Cutie!

Above is a pic looking down the trolley car.  Selwyn was pretty amazed.

                                                              Finally, it was snack time!

November 27, 2011: Decorating Christmas Cookies

From the very beginning of our cookie decorating session, I'm pretty sure Selwyn just wanted to EAT the cookies, icing, sprinkles, etc.  But he hung in there do decorate a few before attacking a frosted delight!

Above, "Why are you making me wait to eat one?"  Below, "I really just want a spoon for that frosting."

Selwyn proceeded to dump 1/2 of the container of green sprinkles onto one lucky cookie.
We added names: Selwyn, Everett and Dad.
                                                            "GIMME THAT COOKIE!"

Everett decided that his cookie looked pretty good, too. Below, Dad enjoyed his cookie right after this picture. Everett had to wait another year.
