I decided it would be fun to make some banana bread (from a Trader Joe's box mix) with Selwyn yesterday evening. He LOVES helping in the kitchen, and the step stool/ladder thingy that my parents bought for us long before the kids were born is now coming in super handy. Plus, Selwyn loves bananas, so banana bread sounded lovely to him. He did a wonderful job stirring, and he enjoyed eating the end product!

Sunday, August 21, 2011: Visit from Ben and Lila
Aunt Deirdre and family swung by our house on their way back from family camp at Chewonki in Wiscasset. Lila remains enamoured with her baby cousin, Everett, and she had a chance to hold him. Ben and Selwyn played baseball outside with their dads.
Sunday, August 14, 2011: Selwyn Rides a Bike (and Everett Hangs with Grammie and Grampa Mac)
So Mom and Dad suspected that Selwyn might be ready to ride a bike with training wheels. Grammie said they had a small bike at their house, and we were welcome to give it a go on Newell Road. Well, Selwyn took to it like a fish to water! Scott and I were both somewhat shocked that our not yet 2 1/2-year old could ride a bike. We both thought we had another year to wait, and we couldn't have been more proud. Selwyn is such an amazing, athletic kid!
The first ride was with Grampa Mac and Daddy while Mom fed Everett.
The second ride was with Daddy, Mommy, Aunt Abbie and Sebastian. We went up Newell Road, across Deacon Road, down Anderson Road, and back again. I could barely keep up with Selwyn to snap some pictures!
Daddy was so proud that he called Grandma KT.
Meanwhile, Everett played with Grammie and Grampa Mac inside and outside back at the house. He had a good time, too!

Saturday, August 13, 2011: Picking Blueberries at Card's Fruit Farm in Bowdoin, Maine
Well, we have picked strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries this year, so we rounded off the berry season by visiting Card's Fruit Farm in Bowdoin to pick blueberries. Above is Dad with the final haul.
Selwyn and Dad did essentially all of the picking (and Selwyn did a LOT of eating...).
Mom tried to pick with the boys, but Everett wasn't really in the mood to hang in the Ergo.
He was, however, VERY happy in the back of the car. A play space is one feature of the Highlander that Mom and Dad hadn't weighed in as a plus when buying the car. It's great! Also makes a good changing table.
Everett is getting very good at grasping his toys and bringing everything to his mouth for sucking and chewing. Sophie the Giraffe is becoming much more interesting.
Above, Selwyn was very excited to show mom the blueberry loot. Below, he was even MORE excited to show the nice elderly ladies at the checkout area. We also bought some delicious fresh peaches and peach jam. Everything was delicious, and we had a ton of fun! On the way home we stopped at McDonald's (primarily for a potty break for our essentially potty trained son) where Selwyn enjoyed his first (and sure to be rare) Happy Meal. His favorite part was wearing the box home on his head...

August 12, 2011: Plain Old Family Time
Not everything we do is an exciting activity. We have a lot of fun just lazing around the house, playing outside, and walking around the neighborhoods near our house. Mom and Everett hang out a lot in the living room during the day.
Poor Everett with the remnants of that terrible sunburn under his eye from Pine Point Beach. :-(
The boys play together on the mat.
Mom wears Everett sometimes when we go for family walks in the evenings after Daddy gets home.
